Documents provide details on Jefferson City home shooting

The Jefferson City Police Department was investigating a home shooting after four individuals allegedly shot a gun into a home 14 times.

According to court documents, the incident happened on Tuesday night at a home in the 300 block of Case Avenue when four individuals allegedly approached a home, pulled out a gun and shot at the home. When officers arrived, multiple witnesses said the suspects had fled on foot. One victim said she was sitting on the front porch of the home minutes before the shooting when she saw four people walking toward the home.

The victim recognized two of the suspects as Christopher Brand and a woman. The victim said she and the woman had been arguing earlier in the day on a messaging app, and they had been in a physical fight on Monday, court documents said.

Upon investigation, officers found multiple bullet holes had struck the residence, and there were approximately 14 shell casings in the area.

Brand and the woman denied any involvement in the shooting, but due to inconsistent statements police took them into custody.

When Brand found out he was being detained, he became angry and pulled soundproofing plates from an interview room at the police department and destroyed the thermostat head, the court documents said.

Brand was charged with second-degree property damage.
