Fulton man flees traffic stop after abandoning child with deputy
Callaway County deputies said Sunday they have arrested a man who was wanted by the Department of Corrections for violating parole and fled from a traffic stop on Nov. 30.
Deputies pulled over Kevin Jones near County Road 163 and Old Highway 40, just west of Williamsburg around 11 p.m. He had a small child in the backseat.
Jones attempted to give the deputy a false name and while the deputy was working to find out his actual identity, Jones took the child from the vehicle and drove off from the traffic stop.
Law enforcement couldn’t immediately find him, but the deputy was able to identify the child and reunite them with family.
On Dec. 1, around 2:30 p.m., deputies got a tip that Jones’ abandoned vehicle was in a field off County Road 153. Later that night, around 7:00, deputies found Jones at a home in the 5300 block of County Road 204 near Fulton.
He is in the Callaway County Jail without bond and faces charges of resisting arrest, along with the parole absconder warrant.
