Widespread showers and storms into Saturday morning
TONIGHT: Patchy to dense fog will continue into the early evening hours, as moisture continues to pool along a warm front to our south. This has led to overcast skies and slowly rising temperatures through most of the day. As the warm front tracks into Mid-Missouri through the night, expect widespread showers and storms to follow. Storms look to arrive after 9-10 PM from the south and track to the north into Saturday morning. Expect widespread heavy rain and rumbles of thunder, with a possible strong storm or two. Heaviest rain will occur to our south, but flooding doesn’t look to be a problem. By tomorrow morning temperatures will have climbed into the 50s with the bulk of the rain shifting to the north.
SATURDAY: Expect a rainy and stormy start to your Saturday, mainly along and north of Hwy 50. Gusty winds will be with us through the day Saturday, with sustained winds out of the south up to 19 mph and gusts up to 25. Afternoon highs will top out near 60 degrees, making the end of November quite warm compared to where we’ve been for the entire month. There is a chance for more storms to fire into the afternoon hours, as the low pressure and associated cold front track through the region. This could lead to a few strong storms east of Hwy 63, with the main threat being damaging winds and large hail.
EXTENDED: Colder air will filter in behind the cold front Sunday, leading to falling temperatures and the return of winter. While some wintry mix can’t be ruled out for Sunday north of I-70, most areas should stay on the dry side. A better chance for a wintry mix arrives as we head into Monday, as a weak upper level disturbance tracks through the region. While the system will be moisture starved, a light wintry mix can’t be ruled out. All of next week keeps temperatures below seasonal values, with highs struggling to climb out of the 30s.
