The school said police investigated the report and gave the all-clear, allowing the schools to resume normal operations.
JCPS spokeswoman Ryan Burns said the incident happened at about 8:45 a.m. and the schools implemented a “soft lockdown” in which students and staff shelter in place but there is no imminent threat to buildings.
Jefferson City Police Department Lt. David Williams said the department received only one call about shots being fired and found no victims or evidence at the scene, which was close to several schools.
