Wind chills drop into the single digits through Tuesday morning

TONIGHT: It will be a mostly clear night for Mid-Missouri, as bitter cold air settles into the region. Temperatures will be nearly 15 degrees below average, as overnight lows drop to near into the lower teens for areas with snow pack. Some freezing fog is possible for areas north of Hwy 24, with areas south seeing no visibility problems. For areas with no snow, temperatures will only dip into the mid and upper teens through the night. By tomorrow morning, it will be bitter cold for all locations with wind chills dipping into the single digits.

TUESDAY: Slick spots are likely on untreated roads and hills tomorrow morning, so give yourself plenty of time to get out the door. Despite the sunshine in place, highs will still struggle to climb out of the 20s tomorrow, with many locations topping out near 27 degrees. Winds will be out of the northwest up to 13 mph, with wind chills staying in the teens and lower 20s.

EXTENDED: We’re tracking a slow warming trend this week, with temperatures back to the 40s by Wednesday. Sunshine dominates the forecast through Tuesday as high pressure moves overhead, with increasing clouds by Wednesday. Temperatures will continue to climb through the end of the week with southerly flow returning as high pressure moves to the east. With this southerly flow, any areas that still have snow could see some foggy conditions by Wednesday morning. We remain relatively quiet until an upper level wave arrives Thursday, which could spark some light rain showers. More widespread rain looks possible into the weekend on Saturday and depending on it’s track could bring either rain or a wintry mix. Stay with ABC 17 News as we continue to track the latest details on the changing conditions.
