Roof of home collapses in Moberly fire

The Moberly police and fire departments were working to put out a fire in the area of Johnson and Franklin streets on Wednesday.

Crews responded to the fire between 11:30 a.m. and noon, and they were still working to out it out at into Wednesday evening.

Both streets are closed to traffic. Moberly police said to avoid the area if possible.

The Moberly Police and Fire Departments are currently on the scene of a structure fire in the area of Johnson and Franklin St. Johnson St and Franklin St are closed to traffic. Please avoid the area and use alternative routes.

Original reports said the fire might have started in the attic, and officials on scene said the roof of the home collapsed. It took crews 30 to 45 minutes to get the fire under control.

Moberly Fire Chief George Albert said this is the second fire on that street this week, however, the fires were not related.

There were no injuries in Wednesday’s fire.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
