Man sentenced in robbery that set off MU Alert

A Columbia man accused in a robbery attempt that set off an alert on a University of Missouri Health Care campus was sentenced to prison Monday.

Judge Jodie Asel sentenced Jack David, 25, to seven years in prison each on two second-degree robbery charges and four years in prison on a knowingly burning or exploding charge after David pleaded guilty Monday, according to online court records. The sentences will run concurrently.

Police arrested David in April after a 17-year-old told them David and another man forced him to withdraw money from an ATM at Central Bank of Boone County. The incident prompted MU authorities to send out an MU Alert because of its proximity to MU Health Care’s South Providence Medical Park.

The robbery victim was able to get away safely, but police said David and the other man took his car, which was found in southeast Columbia with fire damage.

It was not clear Monday whether the second suspect has been arrested.
