One person arrested after credit union robbery

Columbia police took one person in custody after a robbery at Academic Employees Credit Union, located on Ash Street Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Geoff Jones said the suspect struck one victim at the credit union at the time of the robbery and then fled the scene.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper saw a person matching the suspect description at the Petro Mart on Stadium Boulevard. The suspect then took off on foot, and the trooper chased him. The suspect was arrested shortly after.

A Columbia Police Department spokesman said officers were sent at 1:15 p.m. to a report of a person who was robbed on Ash Street. Several police units and an ambulance were seen in the area of Ash and Fairview Road. CPD spokesman Jeff Pitts said it was unclear whether a weapon was used.
