One arrested in K2 searches
UPDATE 5:51 P.M.: According to a press release, the Columbia Police Department have arrested a Columbia man for trafficking K2.
Police arrested Michael Mctye, 45, on Wednesday on suspicion of manufacturing and distributing synthetic cannabinoids. Columbia police partnered with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department to search two businesses and a residence in the county. It wasn’t clear late Wednesday whether a raid on Demaret Drive that morning was related to the search warrant in the county.
ORIGINAL: The Columbia Police Department detained two people Wednesday morning after it served three search warrants. Two took place in Central Columbia, at Stylez N Etc. LLC on Old Highway 63 and Monroe Street, and another in Boone County.
According to Lt. Lance Bolinger, the warrants were served in relation to K2, which is synthetic marijuana. Multiple items were found related to the drugs at approximately 11:00 a.m., Bolinger said.
CPD has responded to multiple K2-related overdoses within the past week.
