Hunter shot in Callaway County

A teenager was shot in a hunting accident Wednesday near Fulton.

Callaway County deputies were sent to private property near Route F outside Fulton at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday in response to a hunter who had been shot, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Deputies found the 17-year-old hunter a few minutes later and administered first aid, the sheriff’s office said.

The teen was rushed to a Columbia hospital by Callaway County EMS. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the gunshot wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing and is being turned over to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
