Areas to the east waking up to a slow going morning commute with snow possible

***Winter Weather Advisory for Camden and Miller Counties until Noon today. Winter Weather Advisory for Gasconade, Montgomery, Maries, Osage, Phelps and Pulaski counties until 6 PM this evening ***

THURSDAY: For the morning commute our south and eastern counties will see ongoing snow as the backend of the system to the east continues to increase snow into our area. The roads for the morning commute will see impacts, especially as you head further east towards St. Louis. Traffic may be slow going. Snow will end in our eastern counties by lunch time. There will be a sharp cutoff in snowfall totals with a dusting expected near HWY 54 approaching 2 inches near I-44. Localized heavier amounts are possible, but will likely only exist near I-44 and eastward. Heaviest snow with this system will occur across far eastern Missouri, where snowfall totals could top out near 7 inches of snow toward St. Louis. After a cold morning commute, temperatures will rise Thursday but only reaching into the low 40s at best, which is still chilly for mid-November.

TONIGHT: Skies remain clear tonight as temperatures drop back below freezing by morning. With winds out of the west up to 8 mph wind chill values will be in the low 20s as you head out the door early Friday.

EXTENDED: Friday looks to be the nicest day of the week thus far, as we approach 50 degrees in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Clouds will return Saturday with highs in the mid 40s. We are watching for possible light snow Saturday night which could produce minor accumulation into Sunday morning, possibly changing to rain and ending in the afternoon. Snow will increase north of I-70 first as the system pushes to the south. Areas south of I-70 look to see a better chance for some rain & snow mix early Sunday. Highs will be colder Sunday, only reaching the low to mid 30s. Next week looks warmer as we climb into the 40s to lower 50s for highs with mainly dry weather through Wednesday. Rain chances return by the end of the Thanksgiving week and into the weekend. Watch ABC 17 News for the latest on our changing weather and check back here for updates.
