Crews battle vehicle fire in northeast Columbia

UPDATE 10:40 a.m.: Columbia Fire Department Assistant Chief Brad Fraizer said the fire is being investigated as suspicious.

UPDATE: The roads were back open to traffic as of 11:50 p.m. Fire officials said a fire marshal is on the way to investigate the cause of the fire.

ORIGINAL: The Columbia Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire late Tuesday night.

Crews were dispatched to Ballenger Lane and Rice Road for a burning car around 11 p.m.

Fire officials said Ballenger Lane would be closed for approximately 45 minutes.
