Ralls County woman killed in Audrain County crash

UPDATE 9:15 A.M.: The Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified the woman killed in the crash Monday as Bonnie J. Heying, 41, of Perry, Missouri.

The crash happened when Heying lost control of her Jeep Wrangler, went off the road, hit a ditch and overturned at about 4:50 p.m. on Highway 54 in Audrain County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in a crash report. Heying was pronounced dead at St. Mary’s Hospital – Audrain.

A passenger in the Jeep, Lucas S. Kerr, 21, was taken to St. Mary’s with moderate injuries, the patrol said. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

ORIGINAL: The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating after one person died in a crash in Audrain County Monday night.

The patrol’s Troop F tweeted around 9 p.m. that it was working to notify the family members of the victim. The tweet said the crash happened on Highway 54, and involved just one car. Authorities said two people were in the vehicle at the time.

Sgt. Scott White told ABC 17 News that weather conditions “likely” played a part in the crash at Highway 54 and Route B. The trooper responding to the scene reported slick roads as they approached, White said.

Troop F said since 2 p.m., it responded to 20 crashes and 25 cases of cars sliding off the road.
