Jefferson City Public Works to salt roads before and after chance of freezing

Plows and trucks will be hitting the road early Tuesday after pre-treating their routes Monday evening.

Jefferson City Public Works had drivers cover designated neighborhoods Monday evening until about 6:30 p.m., and they will be called back in to possibly go over them again Tuesday around 5 a.m.

“I try to hug the centers as much as I can,” Operator Matt Eveler said about spreading salt throughout roads, rather than the sidewalks. “You try to lay the center, because if you try to put it on the sides they’re just going to blow it out to the curb anyway.”

Drivers are advised to drive carefully. Officials warn that bridges and overpasses could become slick before other sections of roads.
