A brief warmup Sunday is followed by more snow and cold temperatures
TONIGHT: It’s not as cold this evening. Retreating high pressure keeps winds out of the south, temperatures steady in the upper 20s. You’ll want the jacket out the door, but definitely not as frigid as this morning.
SUNDAY: For Sunday, temperatures make their climb back closer (kind of but not really) to seasonal averages. We top out in the mid-40s, however, with lots of cloud cover and a steady breeze, it will feel like the mid to upper 30s for much of the day.
EXTENDED: Headed into Sunday evening we’re tracking another wave of low pressure which will start out as a rain/snow mix by 8pm. That will last through midnight, before transitioning to all snow. At this point in time the commute Monday morning looks to see a bit of a drying trend, but you’ll definitely want to give yourself some extra time as left over slush from overnight snow could pose some travel impacts. Beyond that, we’re tracking a secondary wave of energy ejecting out of southwestern Missouri. This looks to bring in another round of snowfall by noon on Monday, where some moderate bands of snow are possible south of I-70. The greatest snow totals for Monday look to be south of the Missouri river through the I-44 corridor. However, as we track dropping temperatures throughout the day Monday, the evening commute will have to be monitored as well, with the possibility of refreezing occuring.
