Columbia man accused of shooting vehicle

A Columbia man was arrested Thursday on assault and gun charges in connection with a Nov. 4 shooting.

Keith L. Dixon Jr., 29, is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm in an incident in north Columbia. According to a probable cause statement Dixon pointed a gun at a woman during an argument and “cocked” the weapon.

Dixon then chased the woman and another person in a car and fired five or six shots at their vehicle at Edenton Boulevard and East Brown School Road, the statement said. He fired five to six more shots on Citadel Drive after the vehicle he had been chasing approached from the opposite direction, the statement said.

Investigators found two bullet holes in the vehicle that Dixon targeted, according to the statement. Other bullet holes were found in residences on Edenton Boulevard and eight shell casings were found on Citadel Drive.

Dixon was in the Boone County Jail on Friday on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
