What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I’ve worked really hard over the last .. 22 years in the office to educate myself on the technology the recording system uses and the technology that’s coming to us in the future. I’ve also been very engaged in the legislative process and building relationships with experts in the field of records preservation so that the records will be protected as best possible and so that they will be as accessible as I can make them.

What will be your top priority if elected?

My priorities as recorder will be to scan the old records that are not on digital images yet so those searches can be done online and to give another layer of backup for disaster preparedness.

What other issues do you see facing the recorder’s office?

Volume has been down on recording, which means that our fees are down, so facing technology upgrades in the future may be more challenging than it has been with the lower volume of recordings.

We also may face going to a smaller staff, but that’s very feasible to maintain our high standards because the efficiencies have improved with technology.
