Jefferson City police seek suspect after failed chase

Jefferson City police are asking for public help in finding a wanted man.

Officers tried to stop Bryce F. Efford, 25, late Thursday in the 900 block of Fairgrounds Road, the Jefferson City Police Department said in a news release. Efford resisted arrest and police used a stun gun on him, but he ran into the woods and escaped, according to the release. One officer was left with minor injuries to her arm in the scuffle.

Police used a dog in an effort to track Efford down, going south through backyards along Fairland Road, Village Drive, to the Jefferson City Fairgrounds and into the Covington Gardens subdivision, the department said. The pursuit ended near London Way and South Country Club Drive.

Officers found a 9 mm handgun in the vehicle Efford was driving, police said. Police are seeking charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and driving while revoked.

Police ask anyone with information to call the department at 573-634-6400.
