Fire rips through apartments near Camdenton

A fire rendered several apartment units uninhabitable Wednesday in a building north of Camdenton.

The Mid-County Fire Protection District was called to the 5-81 complex on Old Route 5 north of Camdenton at about 9 a.m. and found heavy fire on the building’s first and second floors, chief Scott Frandsen said in a news release. Units from Osage Beach, Sunrise Beach, Lebanon and southwest Camden County were called in to assist.

One occupant suffered minor injuries from a fall, but at least three pets died in the fire, Frandsen said. Five units and the building office are a total loss and several other units have smoke and water damage, he said.
