Former school employee admits to sex with student

A former public school staff member who worked in Moniteau and Cole counties pleaded guilty last week to having sexual contact with a student.

Clairyssa Lorenz pleaded guilty Friday in Moniteau County court. Lorenz was arrested in March after a 16-year-old boy said he had sex with her beginning in June or July 2017. Lorenz was an elementary counselor in the Cole R-1 School District and an assistant high school softball coach in the California, Missouri, school district.

Lorenz was sentenced to five years of probation. She still faces a charge of sexual contact with a student in Cooper County. Arraignment in that case is set for Oct. 30.
