Sheriff: Man tries to run over girlfriend and son

A Moniteau County man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly tried to run over his girlfriend and son with his vehicle,

According to the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy H. Hancock, 35, was pursuing the victims on Old Highway 5, just outside of Fortuna. Deputies saw “a UTV being pursued by a vehicle on the gravel road, and it appeared as if the vehicle was attempting to hit the UTV,” according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

When deputies pulled him over, Hancock “jumped out of his truck and advanced on the deputy, threatening him.” Hancock was then held on the ground at gunpoint by law enforcement and placed into handcuffs. He is currently in the Moniteau County Jail on a $150,000 cash only bond and is charged with three counts of assault and one count of child endangerment.
