Crisp, cool fall day to start the work week… Frost & Freeze potential overnight
THIS AFTERNOON: It’s a brisk & cool Monday across Mid-MO with clouds slowly trending out of the area. We can expect a slow climb through the 40s but with a steady breeze out of the northwest it will be chilly for much of the rest of this afternoon. Keep the jacket handy for evening plans.
TONIGHT: Temperatures will plummet overnight dropping below freezing for most areas. With clear skies and light winds out of the north we could see widespread frost by morning. There is frost advisory and freeze warning for mid-Missouri for tonight until 9 AM tomorrow morning. With temperatures that could damage sensitive vegetation you may want to bring fragile plants inside tonight or cover them with a blanket.
EXTENDED: Following a widespread frost Tuesday morning, temperatures will begin to climb through the week. Abundant sunshine is in the forecast Tuesday through Thursday with slowly climbing temperatures each day. Through the mornings we could still see some areas of frost thanks to lows in the 30s, but we touch the 60s by Thursday. A lot of dry time dominates this week, but with increasing moisture Friday, we could see small rain chances for areas south of HWY 50. Into the weekend it looks dry and mild with highs close to 60. Great weather for Mizzou’s Homecoming weekend! Keep up to date with the latest forecast on-air and online with ABC 17 News.
