UPDATE: One injured in Interstate 70 crash at Missouri River bridge

UPDATE 9:40 A.M. 10/10: The crash that stalled rush hour traffic on westbound Interstate 70 at the Missouri River bridge involved six people, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The crash happened when four vehicles stopped because of a crash in front of them, the patrol report said. A semi-truck then crashed into two of the stopped vehicles, causing a chain reaction that involved five vehicles in total.

A passenger in the tractor-trailer, Miguel Perales, 56, of El Centro, California, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital. He was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

UPDATE 6:32 P.M.: Columbia Fire Department officials said the crash has been cleared and traffic is starting to flow more quickly between mile markers 115 and 117.

ORIGINAL:A crash was slowing traffic in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 near at the Missouri River bridge near Rocheport.

The Columbia Fire Department said on Twitter that three to four passenger vehicles and two tractor-trailers were involved and the road is blocked.

Boone County emergency management authorities sent an alert warning of the crash a little before 4:30 p.m. A Missouri Department of Transportation video camera near the bridge showed a long line of traffic stalled in the westbound lanes.
