WEDNESDAY: Lingering showers and a few storms are slowly coming to an end this afternoon, with the clouds remaining in place. Expect overcast skies to stick around through most of the afternoon into the evening, with falling temperatures to follow. Winds will gradually shift around out of the west up to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25. Temperatures by the evening commute will be falling into the upper 50s so a jacket will be needed.

TONIGHT: Cloud cover is going to decrease through the night with temperatures dropping to near 40 degrees. It will be chilly by daybreak with breezy winds out of the northwest up to 10-15 mph, we coud see gusts as high as 21.

EXTENDED: Temperatures will only reach the upper 50s Thursday under mostly sunny skies. More rain is possible as we head into the close of the week, as two systems will track into the region. System number one will arrive Friday morning through afternoon as an upper level disturbance from Colorado moves through. This will not only bring light to moderate rain showers Friday, but will also keep temperatures cool. Some lingering showers are possible into Sports Zone Football Friday with temperatures in the 40s through the game. System number 2 looks to arrive Saturday night into Sunday. This comes as the remnants of Hurricane Sergio from the Pacific track inland with impacts felt across the Plains and into the Midwest. The best chance of rain this weekend is south of I-70 with lower rain chances north. Highs this weekend will be slightly warmer, reaching near 60 Saturday but cooling back into the 50s Sunday. Overnight lows across most of the 7-day drop into the 30s. Some light areas of frost are possible. Keep up to date with the latest forecast on-air and online with ABC 17 News.
