EXTENDED INTERVIEW: MU expert talks mental health

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place Oct. 7-13.

The week was created in 1990 to help increase resources and treatment of mental illness. The National Alliance on Mental Illness says almost 44 million Americans suffer from a mental health condition each year.

University of Missouri Health Care doctor John Lauriello spoke with ABC 17 News about advancement that have been made in treatment and in social perception of mental health issues.
