Columbia man sentenced for heroin sales

A Columbia man was sentenced Wednesday in federal court for dealing heroin and illegally possessing a firearm.

Horashio A. Pritchett, 39, was sentenced to six years and three months in federal prison without parole, the office of the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri said in a news release. Pritchett pleaded guilty June 6 to heroin distribution and being a felon with a firearm.

Columbia police searched Pritchett’s home Sept. 15, 2016, and seized heroin, suboxone pills, oxycodone pills, digital scales and baggies, according to the release. Police also found a .40-caliber handgun in his jacket pocket when he was arrested, the attorney’s office said.

Pritchett told investigation he had gotten about 2 ounces of heroin every two weeks for two years, the release said.
