Muggy night ahead of strong storms into Tuesday evening
MONDAY: It’s a warm and breezy afternoon across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures will continue to climb into the low to mid 80s. Areas west of Hwy 63 will likely be a few degrees warmer where clouds are expected to increase through the day. This could bring a few spots showers and storms to extreme western parts of Mid-Missouri. Elsewhere, expect dry weather through the day with winds out of the south gusting up to 25 mph.
TONIGHT: Under mostly cloudy skies temperatures will drop into the upper 60s. Most areas stay dry, but we can’t rule out a spot storm through the night. Winds will be out of the southeast up to 11 mph.
EXTENDED: Our next chance of rainfall arrives by Tuesday evening, along a cold front is bringing an increasing chance at severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon & Tuesday night. Ahead of the main line that arrives Tuesday night, some isolated storms could fire during the afternoon hours. These storms could be strong to severe, but the better chance holds off until the evening hours. A large portion of Mid-Missouri is currently under a slight risk for severe weather into Tuesday evening. At the moment the primary threat looks to be strong winds and hail, but there looks to be enough wind shear in the atmosphere to warrant a concern for tornadoes as well. We have issued a Weather Alert Day. After the overnight storms roll through Tuesday, on going showers are possible into Wednesday with highs in the 60s. Fall makes it’s glorious return with temperature in the 50s by the end of the week. Keep up to date with the latest forecast on-air and online with ABC 17 News.
