Georgia man accused of holding a knife to woman’s throat

James Brent Sims, 45, is facing charges of domestic assault and kidnapping after he’s accused of hitting a woman and holding her against her will on Friday around 6:00 p.m near Rich Fountain.

Osage County Communications got information that Sims, who is from Georgia, had fled the scene of an assault on Highway U and was possibly going to Belle.

Belle police were able to detain him.

The victim said she and Sims were fighting and he punched her several times in the head with his fist. She said they were in the car but Sims refused to stop and let her out, holding her against her will.

The victim said she was forced to stay in the vehicle with Sims for several hours while they traveled on Highway 63 towards Osage County.

During that time, he apparently hit her multiple times and “smashed” her head on the dashboard. She also accused him of putting a knife to her throat.

She said she “was scared for her life and thought about jumping from the vehicle.”

Sims faces charges of kidnapping and domestic assault.
