No suspect, motive unclear in Demaret Drive shooting

Investigators are continuing to look for the person who killed a man on Demaret Drive on Wednesday.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department had released no suspect information by Thursday evening and no information about a motive for the killing was released.

The Missouri Department of Corrections confirmed the victim, Louis L. Green, failed to report to his parole officer after he was released from state prison on parole in December.

Green was pronounced dead at about 4 p.m. after he was rushed to the hospital.

Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department were called to the scene just after 3 p.m. They found 23-year-old Green lying in a foyer in an apartment building.

A Boone County Sheriff’s Department detective confirmed Green was sentenced to four years in prison after four people were shot in September 2015 at the VFW post in Columbia.

He pleaded guilty in December 2016 to a felony county of second-degree assault in connection with the shooting at the VFW. It wasn’t clear if the shooting and Green’s death were connected.

Boone County Sheriff’s Department Det. Tom O’Sullivan said authorities were not ruling anything out in their investigation, including whether the death was connected to the VFW shooting.

A reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest in connection with Green’s death.
