Boats collide head on at the Lake of the Ozarks

Two boats collided at the Lake of the Ozarks Saturday morning, the impact sending one man to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to Highway Patrol boat crash reports, Timothly Cox, 53, was approaching 62-year-old Robert Coffey’s boat head on at around 8 a.m.

Cox and Coffey turned their respective boats to avoid a collision, but ended up turning in the same direction.

Cox’s boat went over the top of Coffey’s boat, seriously injuring Coffey. He was taken to Lake Regional Hospital. Cox didn’t have any injuries.

Highway Patrol troopers noted that neither man was wearing a safety device.
