Boone County delegates learn about youth programs and resources

Boone County delegates and candidates gathered in the Douglass High School gymnasium Tuesday night to hear more about the resources and programs available in the mid-Missouri community to help young people and families.

The forum centered on four main topics that included mental health, after school activities, adult role models and E-cigarettes.

Experts in each topic gave the Boone County delegation a run down of their efforts to better promote these resources, or the problems they might be facing in implementing programs or providing resources.

Delegates and candidates were also able to ask questions of the experts presenting.

Youth Community Coalition coordinator Ron Rowe said the goal would be to educate the lawmakers and candidate hopefuls about the issues so that they could bring the knowledge back with them to Jefferson City and use it when they’re crafting laws or priorities.
