UPDATE: Man dies from injuries after motorcycle crash in northeast Columbia

UPDATE 9/14 2:15 a.m.: A man involved in the crash on Paris Road has died from his injuries.

David Auxier, 25, was identified as the person driving the motorcycle who has died in a highway patrol crash report.

Auxier was driving at an excessive speed when he tried to avoid a pickup truck, lost control of the motorcycle and hit the pickup, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Auxier was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.

The driver of the pickup, Daysi Hawkins, 25, was not injured.

UPDATE 10:50 p.m.: The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed late Thursday night it was investigating a serious injury crash on Paris Road in Columbia.

According to Sgt. Scott White, the crash involved a motorcycle and a truck.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, according to authorities.

ORIGINAL: Right now the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Columbia Police Department are on the scene of a crash in northeast Columbia.

It happened around 9 p.m. on Paris Road near East Brown Station Road.

Sgt. Scott White with Troop F confirmed a member of the Major Crash Investigation Unit arrived on scene around 9:30 p.m.

The southbound lane is currently blocked.

ABC 17 News crews saw a motorcycle on the ground.
