Missouri S&T begins nationwide chancellor search
Missouri University of Science and Technology has started a nationwide search for a new chancellor.
The top position at the university in Rolla has been under interim leadership since May 15, 2017, when Christopher Maples was named interim chancellor. Former chancellor Cheryl Schrader accepted a job as Wright State University’s first female president in March 2017 and started her new job that July.
The search will be led by the UM System HR Executive Initiatives team, the University of Missouri System said in the release. Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe, a professor at Missouri S&T, and alumnus and board of trustees member Tom Voss will chair the search committee.
“Missouri S&T is an integral part of our UM System, and its success contributes significantly to the success of the entire state,” UM System President Mun Choi said in the release. “We are confident that we will be able to generate a broad, high-quality pool of candidates from a national audience based on the tremendous strength and reputation of this institution as well as the efforts of our in-house recruitment staff and nominations from our community, campus leadership and committee members.”
UM System spokesman Christian Basi said UM leaders hope to make a decision this spring. No decision has been made on whether the search will include open forums, he said.
