Route BB bridge ramp to close over the weekend

The westbound Interstate 70 ramps will remain closed over the weekend. The work started Friday at 7 p.m. and will continue through Monday at 5 a.m.

Missouri Department of Transportation engineer Mike Schnupp said the eastbound ramp has already been completed, and once the westbound ramp is finished, the Route BB bridge will then close until mid-October.“The bridge is safe; that’s why we’re doing the work,” Schnupp said. “It’s still safe, but we want to go ahead and make repairs while the bridge is still safe so we can get some more life out of this bridge.”

If crews feel there is debris coming from the working project, they will make sure the necessary precautions are taken to ensure anyone driving under this bridge is safe, according to MoDOT.

Schnupp said this bridge project is well within the budget and will cost approximately $794,000.
