Rising temperatures, with storms by the end of the week

WEDNESDAY: It will be a mostly sunny and warm afternoon across Mid-Missouri. Temperatures are expected to top out in the upper 80s today, with winds out of the northwest up to 10 mph. From 2-5 PM we can’t rule out and isolated shower towards the Lake of the Ozarks and to the southeast, but any storms we see will be isolated and brief in nature.

TONIGHT: Expect mostly clear skies tonight, with temperatures bottoming out in the mid to upper 60s. Winds will shift from the northeast to the southeast through the night, making for a pleasant start to your Thursday.

EXTENDED: High temperatures will reach the lower 90s Thursday and Friday under mostly sunny skies as the upper level ridge builds back over the area. A weak cold front drifting south Friday could spark some isolated t-storms late Friday evening, mainly north of I-70. For the weekend, slight storm chances are in the forecast as an upper level low pressure area develops over the Great Lakes and digs to the south. A weak front at the surface could trigger spot storms both Saturday and Sunday with the best chance south of I-70 & near the Ozarks. Weekend high temperatures will stay near 90 under partly to mostly sunny skies. Dry time continues into early next week, but we are watching for an overnight convective system developing to the southwest that could lift north and impact our area by Tuesday afternoon, which could bring the next batch of widespread rain fall.
