UPDATE: Officials find Ashland man who was reported missing

UPDATE 7:30 A.M.: Officials said medics from University Hospital found Jim North, 69, of Ashland, around 5:30 a.m. Monday after North was reported missing Sunday night.

Roger Jaeger, with the Southern Boone County Fire Protection District, said they were called to search for North shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday night.

Jaeger said multiple agencies helped with the search efforts non-stop through Monday morning. Those agencies include Boone County Fire Protection District, Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Cole County Fire, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cole County Emergency Response and University Hospital EMS.

Crews searched the area of Andrew Sapp Road on foot, used all-terrain vehicles, drones equipped with infra-red vision and a helicopter. Jaeger said they had GPS trackers with the search teams so they could keep track of what areas were searched.

Jaeger said University medics were searching a trail Monday morning that had been searched twice before. They found a glove that had dog hair on it and believed it belonged to North. Shortly after, the medics found North, around 5:30 a.m.

Jaeger was not sure what condition North was in when medics found him, but said he was taken to University Hospital for evaluation.

Jaeger couldn’t confirm if Bella, North’s dog, was also found with North, but believed that to be the case.

Jaeger said at least 28 people helped with the search efforts, and thanked everyone, including North’s family, for taking part in the search.
