Tracking severe storms with hail, wind, and a tornado possible tonight

TONIGHT: Storms becoming widespread with heavy rain, strong winds, and hail possible. Severe threat lowers after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s to around 60.

TOMORROW: Becoming mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: Scattered severe storms have developed across far eastern Kansas and western Missouri, eventually forming into a line that tracks east across Mid-Missouri and brings the threat of damaging winds and hail through late this evening. Storms are expected to enter the Highway 63 corridor after 7:00 p.m., with the severe threat ending to the east by 11:00 p.m. or so. Thursday will be a nice break with dry weather and more sunshine, and a light south breeze with temperatures rising back into the upper 70s to low 80s. Friday is another Weather Alert Day for the potential of damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes ahead of a cold front that will bring a big cool down for the weekend. The highest risk for severe weather will come by early evening, with storms moving west to east. Much of Mid-Missouri is in a level 3/5 risk for severe weather on Friday. Rain amounts will range from 1-2" with that frontal passage. Rain exits early Saturday, leaving us with a much cooler weekend as highs only reach the upper 50s Saturday and low 60s on Sunday. We'll start off pleasant next week as highs reach the lower 70s under high pressure early next week, with possible active weather by next Thursday or Friday.
