Strong storms possible this evening, Rain lasts into Tuesday

THIS AFTERNOON: Thanks in part to the widespread cloud covers this afternoon, temperatures are slower to warm than previously forecasted. The spot showers we received are going to bump up the humidities. Spot storms are possible north of I-70 this afternoon as well. Temperatures hold in the low to mid 90s.

TONIGHT: Things begin to get interesting as we push into this evening. An approaching cold front will spark off the chance for a few storms overnight, some of which could be severe. Storms will increase north of HWY 24 by 8 PM, and will likely impact areas north of I-70 through the overnight hours. These strong clusters of storms bring the chance for large hail and damaging winds tonight. Low temperatures will drop into the low to mid 70s.

EXTENDED: By Tuesday morning we could see continued storms for the morning commute, so allow for a little extra time and make sure to grab the umbrella or rain jacket. Tuesday afternoon shows a continued widespread rain threat, which is good news for the drought. Expect scattered showers to dominate the afternoon, but we are going to see a drying trend into the evening. Unfortunately, rainfall totals look limited with .50″ – .75″ expected, with localized areas receiving up to 1″. Temperatures will only rise into the low to mid 80s tomorrow afternoon due to heavy cloud coverage and scattered rainfall. By Wednesday we begin to dry out as temperatures rise back into the upper 80s. This week closes out on a seasonal note with temperatures close to 90, plenty of sunshine, and dry conditions.
