Slight storm chance this afternoon
THURSDAY: A few clouds will build in the afternoon as high temperatures climb to 90 degrees. There is a slight shower or t-storm chance mainly east of HWY 63 and north of I-70 as a weak front moves through late in the day. The best timing for any rain looks to range from 3-7 PM. Westerly winds will stay light, under 8 mph.
TONIGHT: With clear skies, temperatures will drop back into the mid 60s by morning with winds out of the southeast up to 6 mph.
EXTENDED: High pressure aloft will build over the area through the weekend, bringing back the summer heat. We’ll have abundant sunshine and hot afternoons, reaching 90-94 from Thursday through Monday. Nights will slowly warm to near 70 by the weekend. The humidity will slowly rise and weekend heat indices will climb into the mid to upper 90s. The next chance of some much needed rainfall moves in Monday night and Tuesday of next week, with possible scattered storms and slightly cooler temperatures, in the upper 80s to near 90 next Tuesday.
