Investigators say missing Iowa woman was not in Missouri

UPDATE 11 A.M.: A woman spotted in mid-Missouri was not a missing Iowa college student, according to investigators.

Police in Kearney, Missouri, said a truck stop employee reported seeing someone resembling Mollie Tibbetts, the missing college student, on Sunday. She told police she saw Tibbetts eating in a Taco Bell.

Police said officers conducted a search of the area, spoke with all available witnesses and reviewed all available footage. After reviewing video footage from the business, investigators determined the sighting was not substantiated and was ruled out.

The 20-year-old woman was last seen on July 18 in Brooklyn, Iowa.
