Heat wave returns to Mid-Missouri, with daily highs in the 90s

TODAY: After several days of pleasant conditions across Mid-Missouri, summer finally rears its head once again. Under mostly sunny skies, highs will climb to near 90 today with winds gradually shifting around out of the south. It’ll be humid this afternoon, with heat indices topping out in the lower 90s.

TONIGHT: With mostly clear skies expected, temperatures will drop back into the mid 60s by morning. Winds will be out of the south up to 7 mph, reinforcing the rising humidity that will last through the week.

EXTENDED: High pressure aloft will build over the area for the rest of the week, bringing back the summer heat. We’ll have abundant sunshine and hot afternoons, reaching 90-94 from Thursday through Monday. Nights will slowly warm to near 70 by the weekend.The humidity doesn’t look as high as what we’ve had in weeks past, but heat indices will return into the mid 90s with slightly humid conditions. As of now, there is no rain in the forecast through the weekend. The next shot of some much needed rainfall won’t arrive until Tuesday of next week, bringing the chance of scattered showers.
