City of Fayette under boil advisory

All residences and businesses who receive water from the City of Fayette are under a boil advisory.

The city sent a letter to businesses and residents Wednesday afternoon notifying them of the advisory.

According to the letter, city crews started working on repairs to a ten inch water line that was hit with a boring machine at 2:30 p.m.

The city said it anticipates having water back on late Wednesday afternoon or early evening, with the boil advisory being in effect once water is restored.

The city recommends precautions be taken for the boil advisory, including:

Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use from a household automatic ice maker. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water. Continue boiling all water that is to be used for cooking and drinking until notified that the boil advisory has been lifted.

Anyone with questions about the boil advisory is asked to call City Hall at 660-248-5246.
