Summer heat returns this week

TONIGHT: Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy with low temperatures near 60 by morning with light north winds under 8 mph. A spot shower is possible but most areas will stay dry overnight.

TUESDAY: As an upper level low pressure area moves to the east, moisture wrapping around it could produce a few showers and isolated t-storms mainly east of HWY 63 in the afternoon. Otherwise, it looks partly cloudy and warm with high temperatures in the lower 80s and winds from the north up to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: High pressure aloft will build over the area for the rest of the week, bringing back summer heat and humidity. Tuesday night will still be comfortable with lows in the low 60s. Wednesday will feel more like late July with mostly sunny and seasonal temperatures, reaching the upper 80s. By the end of the work week, temperatures will top out near 90 with nights dropping into the upper 60s.The humidity doesn’t look as high as what we’ve had in weeks past, but heat indices will return into the mid 90s with slightly humid conditions. Heading into the weekend, it will be typical for the start of August with highs near 90 and nights near 70. There is a slight chance of storms Saturday night and Sunday but at this time, widespread rain or storms are not expected for the upcoming weekend.
