Indiana family files lawsuit against owners, operators of duck boat that killed 9 family members

A federal lawsuit has been filed against the duck boat company and boat operators after a boat sank and killed 17 people in Branson.

Lawyers from the team plan a news conference Monday at 10:30 a.m. to discuss the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed on Sunday on behalf of two members of an Indiana family who lost nine relatives in the Ride the Ducks duck boat that sank July 19 on Table Rock Lake.

The family is seeking $100 million in damages against the owners and operators.

The lawsuit claims Ride the Ducks of Branson owner Ripley Entertainment and others ignored bad weather warnings that day, and knew that design flaws made the boats susceptible to sinking.

Others from Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas were also killed in the tragedy.

The lawsuit isn’t the first wrongful death case filed by the legal team involving duck boats.
