Scattered rain showers today, with mild weather sticking around

THURSDAY: Scattered showers and storms continue to track into Mid-Missouri, as a cold front slowly progresses to the south. Expect any rain to stick around through at least late afternoon, with a brief climb in temperatures into the upper 70s and lower 80s once the rain ends. Areas north of I-70 that will likely stay rain free all day long will see warmer temperatures. . Rainfall amounts through the day will be anywhere from a trace to a quarter of an inch. Behind the cold front, expect cooler temperatures and winds out of the northwest up to 10 mph.

TONIGHT: With skies clearing out this evening, temperatures will fall towards 60 through the night. Winds will be light out of the north up to 9 mph. By daybreak we could see areas of patchy fog for the morning commute, but only in areas that see heavy rain through the day.

EXTENDED: The cooler weather sticks around to close out the week, with highs climbing into the lower 80s Friday with nights falling back into the lower 60s. Below average temperatures will continue into the weekend with another round of showers and storms arriving as we head into Saturday. Rain chances do look to be backing off quite a bit, as the two areas of disturbances look to bypass us for the most part. The greatest lift for Saturday will be in Iowa, with the greatest lift for Sunday being in southern Missouri, this leaves Mid-Missouri in a void. Rain is still expected, but the heaviest rain looks to remain to our north and south. Storms look to arrive as we head into Saturday evening and become scattered through the night, before a better chance of rain arrives as we head into Sunday. This comes as an area of low pressure slowly moves through. Severe storms look unlikely but we will pick up beneficial rain with the potential for half an inch of rain north of I-70 to an inch for areas south. Temperatures will also be cooler this weekend, with high temperatures only reaching near 80 and nights in the low to mid 60s.Next week starts off with slight rain chances Monday and temperatures slowly climbing into the mid 80s by Wednesday.
