Police investigate accidental shooting

Columbia police investigated an accidental shooting Thursday night.

The University of Missouri Police Department and the Columbia Police Department responded to the South Providence Medical Park at Providence and Southampton before 9 p.m.

An officer at the scene said the gun went off accidentally while the person was driving. The person then drove to the medical park to seek help.

Police said the person was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine.

Officers cleared the scene around 9:30 p.m.
