Phillips said in a statement that he was cleared in all sexual misconduct cases including rape and stalking. Phillips added he admitted to pushing his girlfriend at the time in October 2016 in the fourth complaint. Phillips claimed in his statement that it was self defense.

We have reached out to the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX of MU for a response and confirmation as to whether or not the investigation is over. A MU spokesperson said the university can not comment or confirm any information regarding any Title IX investigation due to federal law.

The spokesperson said campus safety is MU’s number one priority and that there was no other response at this time.

“The accusations against me are unfounded, and I have cooperated 100 percent with the Title IX office through this investigation. I am happy to say that the investigation is finally over, and my life can finally resume,” Phillips said.

The Office of Civil Rights and Title IX opened an investigation against Phillips in January after multiple women accused Phillips of sexual misconduct.

Mizzou basketball coach Cuonzo Martin dismissed Phillips from the team later in January.

“For the first few weeks of the investigation, I cried myself to sleep every night. I woke up with emotions and frustrations that I have never felt before,” Phillips said in a statement.

A spokesperson for the Mizzou basketball team says it can not comment on the matter due to federal law and has no comment as to what Phillips’s status is moving forward.

Phillips averaged 2.5 points per game this season. The junior guard played in 20 games for Mizzou this season. In his first two seasons at MU, Phillips started almost every game.
