Sedalia police make two arrests following forgery investigation

At least one man faces nearly a dozen felony forgery charges in Pettis County following a counterfeit money investigation by the Sedalia Police Department.

Officers said the investigation started after police took a report from Domino’s Pizza that a delivery driver got a counterfeit $100 bill during a delivery on July 15.

A second and third report was filed on July 17 after a food vendor in the 3100 block of West Broadway and Pizza Hut both reported receiving counterfeit $100 bills as payments.

Police said Brandon T. Swearingin, 29, of Sedalia was identified as a suspect on July 18 and was later arrested that day on East 3rd Street.

According to police, Swearingin had several counterfeit $100 bills in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Swearingin was taken to the Pettis County Jail and held on a $50,000 cash or surety bond on 11 felony counts of forgery.

Officers said a second suspect was arrested after police executed a search warrant on a home at 2212 West 1st Street Terrace.

Investigators reported several more counterfeit $100 bills were found, along with evidence that indicated manufacturing of counterfeit money.

Collin T. Bressie, 29, of Sedalia, was taken into custody and held in the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

At last check, Bressie hasn’t been formally charged.
