NTSB on Table Rock Tragedy: Cause of Boat Capsizing Could Take One Year to Determine

The National Transportation Safety Board said the cause of the Ride the Ducks boat capsizing on Table Rock Lake could take up to one year to determine.

Officials made the announcement in a news conference Friday evening, just over 24 hours after the boat sunk, killing 17 people on board.

The NTSB arrived in Branson late Friday morning. Officials are working to interview survivors and witnesses and plan taking evidence back to Washington D.C. for further examination. They will be investigating in Branson for the next 10 days. The boat itself, the operation of the boat and the people who operated it are also being looked at.

In a couple weeks, officials with the NTSB plan to release a preliminary report. They are still asking anyone with photos or videos to share them on NTSB.gov or give them local authorities.
