Heat and humidity make a comeback, lasts through Thursday

****A HEAT ADVISORY WILL GO INTO EFFECT BEGINNING AT 12 PM TUESDAY FOR CHARITON, COOPER, HOWARD, MACON, PETTIS, RANDOLPH, AND SALINE COUNTIES UNTIL 7 PM WEDNESDAY****

THIS AFTERNOON: With the return of southeasterly winds across Mid-Missouri we have reintroduced another round of heat and humidity across the regions. Temperatures this afternoon are going to continue climbing through the 80s into the low 90s. Heat index values will rise over 100 degrees by the afternoon hours. Make sure you hydrate before heading out, especially if you plan on performing any strenuous activities. The heat and humidity last into the early evening hours.

TONIGHT: The warm and muggy conditions return tonight, with lows only bottoming out in the mid 70s. Southeasterly winds up to 9 mph, will continue to reinforce the humid conditions through the night.

EXTENDED: Independence Day will be hot and humid with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s and heat indices up to 104 in the afternoon. It looks mainly dry with only an isolated storm possible during the late afternoon. For evening fireworks displays, it will be warm with temperatures in the low to mid 80s and light winds under 5 mph. Heading into Thursday, we’ll have a slight storm chance mainly north of I-70 and highs in the lower 90s. A better chance of storms arrives as we head into Friday as a cold front moves through. Morning storms are possible with more storms in the afternoon, shifting south of I-70 through early evening. It will be cooler and drier as we head into the weekend, as highs only top out in the upper 80s with lower humidity.
